Spike Awards - Mass Effect!! Well this was certainly another milestone... first time on TV with VGL. Had a great time and I really liked how it came out on the show. The production people were top-notch and it was a fantastic experience. I DID NOT win for Best Original Score for Mass Effect. That honor went to Garry Schyman for his work on Bioshock. I really believe that Garry deserves it. It's really a great score! Mass Effect did win RPG of the year and that is wonderful. It also surpassed 1,000,000 units after only 3 weeks. So, it'll be a very strong seller. Can't wait to work on ME 2!! Yeah!!!!

Mass Effect nominated for Best Original Score! That's right - this beautiful game is starting to do it's thing... Mass Effect is one of the top four scores of 2007 according to the Spike VGAs airing Dec. 9th, 2007. Looking forward to attending that show and perhaps even performing the score with Video Games Live at the awards show. That would be sweet!

Video Games Live Journal Thursday, October 27th I flew into Seattle with Tommy, Mike and Becky late in the afternoon. Our tour manager, Richard Jones, and Production Manager, Myles Mangino (together, they’ve run tours for everyone from the Spice Girls, Oasis and the Pixies to Woody Allen’s music tour of Europe) picked us up and we all climbed into an 8 passenger van to get to the Hotel. We checked into the hotel and then all headed over to the Cheesecake Factory to have some dinner and get acquainted. We all traded stories about the very beginnings of Video Games Live and various tours from the production team until the wee hours knocking back a few. To me, this is always part of the fun of any adventure – getting to know those you’re working this closely with. Clearly, Richard and Myles had been around the block a few times and we are always quick to point out that this is all so new to us!

Working again... After much soul searching and some well-deserved time off, I'm back at it! Not that I ever actually stopped, but I have taken some time to reflect on the busiest time I've ever had in my life, career, etc. It's all good. Perserverance is the key in just about anything. Today, I'm finishing up the first part of our business plan for VGL. I'm also in the middle of a deal with a major library for all the music that I've produced that I actually own (slim pickin's really - the game business really owns most of my work!). So I'm putting together and trying to find all the music that I have. This has been fun. Some nice stuff. It'll be good to see it out there doing something on its own. It was so gratifying when the Theme from Myst III was used in a Peter Pan trailer. Good stuff. j

Warcraft Today was Warcraft day for me. Working with Jason Hayes and Gloria Soto from Blizzard to get all the music, midi files, scores and other assets to work on the segment for Video Games Live. Man, this music is intense. Should be alot of fun in the show too. Matt Samia, the director at Blizzard responsible for the cinematics is now doing a second version of the video edit for the show. I'll get to see a version of it next week. I just know the video is going to knock the socks off of all of us at the show. July 6th at the Bowl! We are gonna have some serious fun that night!!
